Roundup: A Spring Fragrance Bouquet

By Kim Taylor

A resounding wow to Brooklyn’s Curious Apothecary fragrance. You’ll be stunned by the quality of this small batch, artisan crafted fragrance line — particularly the incredible Luminos, a unique blend of creamy sandalwood and mysteriously tantalizing moonlit spices. The precise blend is wrapped in an exquisite-smelling enigma, and you can find it at http://www.themefragrance.com and at Anthropologie stores.

A close second in my Curious Apothecary fragrance affections is Love Joy, which is so right for spring. It’s an uplifting concoction of vibrant pink grapefruit and rich, white florals. Youthful and energetic, it pairs well with dresses, culottes, pedal-pushers and sunshine. While you’re at it, order the Tobacco-Caramel soy candle called Smoking Jacket for an olfactory delight you won’t soon forget. These and more at: http://www.themefragrance.com.

Fragrance Find - Theme Fragrance Keep Calm Carry On

I stumbled upon this fragrance line recently and ordered this scent based on the name and color alone! (Shame on me right?)

But it turns out my instincts were right on the money about this one. It's a fun, free spirited citrus line that I love.

And what about that name? Well,
it was inspired by a famous British World War Two poster.

The perfume is made with essential oils and the pink grapefruit version was my favorite - really uplifting and energizing. This is perfect for spritzing after a workout, before going out for dinner or a long business trip.

There's also a tangy, crisp Tangerine scent as well. Spay On! - RLB

Vintage Indie and Theme Fragrance Bikini Perfume

Like I said, it was so hard to choose just one dream prom look. I just LOVED this dress from Vintageous. I know it's a lot of plum, but that velvet is dreamy. See the links below for credit/purchase.

The deal with indie fragrances

Todays guest post comes from the lovely Kim from IndieStyleFile! After youve finished reading her great rundown on some independent perfumers, go check out her site for lots more of the hottest fashion from independent artisans and designers.

I spend a lot of time writing about indie designers over at IndieStyleFile, but the idea of indie extends much, much further. Indie can be anything artisan, and that includes fragrances.

Like buying anything else indie, its all about the communication between you and the seller. You can ask for custom blends, or more descriptions on how something smells.

Theme Fragrance Ill admit that my favorite thing about this line is their labeling. Its gorgeous. They dont heave too many fragrances, but if you love girly tropical scents, Theme is the place to go.

Theme Fragrance:The New Love of my Life by Informal Critique! Theme Fragrance: The New Love of My Life

Sorry hubby, but I'm in love. No, I'm not leaving you. You'll have to learn to live cohesively amongst one another, but I promise you don't have to worry. My new love won't take up much room. My new love comes in a 4.6ml roll on bottle and fits in my purse!

I'm talking about Theme Fragrance's wonderful little perfume roll ons. If you're looking for a new fragrance to make your head spin and your heart thump, these little guys are just what you need.

At $9.75 a pop they're a great deal. The scent lasts forever...and yes I mean forever. I almost didn't want to take a shower because I didn't want to wash off the wonderful smell! No worries. I showered and reapplied!

Elizabeth Morrison hand pours each one of her creations, and boy does this woman know what a girl wants! The scents not only last forever, but they make your senses go wild. Once applied you won't even realize you put anything on except for the wonderful smell. There's no messy stickiness, sliminess or goo to deal with. Just roll on and enjoy!

I know you're dieing to know exactly what these guys smell like, so let's get on with it!

Bikini- This fruity blend contains citrus, but I honestly couldn't smell it. All the wonderful fruit notes jump out at you making this a great smell. You're sure to pick up the flower notes as well, but the sweetness makes this scent so yummy I almost want to eat it! It really made my tastebuds go crazy, and it reminded me of candy necklaces I used to wear as a little girl.

Lotus Lake- This is a wonderful floral scent. It's light and airy like all of the other scents, and it reminds me of water. I pick out a hint of sandalwood which gives it a slight earthy smell as well. This one also contains fresh tea notes.

Sarong- Coconut! I don't know how she does it, but that's exactly what I smell. I feel like I'm walking down the beach barefoot. This one reminds me of tanning oil, but not the ones that smell really strong. This is a great light scent. I'm anti-vanilla, but this scent may have just changed my mind! The vanilla is very light, but it's just enough to mix with the floral notes for a lovely combination. I can see why this scent is a best seller!

Seashell- I smell grapefruit! Normally I would probably be turned off by the smell of grapefruit, but not in this little bottle! It's a wonderful citrus scent without having the scents that normally make me want to dump it down the toilet like lemongrass. This is the perfect scent for anyone who wants a citrus scent without it being overpowering. It also contains ylang which brings out the sexy side of the fragrance.

Love Letter *Limited Edition*- I hate one thing about this fragrance...that it's a limited edition! It smells so good! This is a fresh and clean fragrance, feminine and sexy. I love it! This scent will definitely remind you of spring and relaxing by the pool with a drink in your hand. This little bottle is full of roses! Now that I think about it, it makes me feel like I'm sleeping on a soft bed of rose pedals.

No matter which scent you decide is your favorite, it's definitely worth it to grab yourself a sample of all of these fragrances. You can get a sample pack of all of them for $5, and the samples are really nice sized vials that will last you awhile. A little goes a long way with this stuff, so throw away those expensive $50 bottles of perfume and find yourself a cheap and long lasting new favorite! I promise you won't be disappointed.

We have recently been reviewed on the web by Rare Bird Finds- http://rarebirdfinds.typepad.com
"My next favorite is a roll-on fragrance by Theme in a luscious scent called Sarong, and it really does make me want to put on a sarong and walk barefoot on the beach. It's a delicious coconut scent mingled with flowers. So lovely - I am definitely going to wear it."

Tropical Paradise in a Bottle

Powdery vanilla perfume is your ticket to the tropics

Sarong Roll-On Perfume from Theme FragranceAlthough we may have left summer behind, there's no reason you can't whisk yourself away to your own private island - even if it is only in your mind.

The Sarong roll-on perfume from Theme Fragrance that I received in the October edition of The Sampler is your ticket to the tropics, and you won't have to worry about bringing your sunblock.

The roll-on bottle is a brilliant idea, making it just as easy to pop your perfume into your purse as it does to quickly whip it out and roll it onto your pulse points. A little dab'll do ya'!

After slicking the scent onto my wrists, the scents of Creme de coconut, white sands, night blooming flowers and vanilla in the Sarong scent lasted all day, even after tending to a sink full of dishes. The scent seemed to melt into my skin, making it seem as though I was lightly dusted with a powder puff of vanilla stardust.

With 3 other scents in the Theme Fragrance line in both 4.6 ml roll-on and half-ounce eau de toilette bottles, be prepared to be sniffed and savored by everyone within smelling distance!

Theme Fragrance Sarong Perfume Roll-On.. What a concept.. Not a drop to be lost and wasted by clumsy hands! Watch it go on.. Put it wherever you want to smell wonderful and make anyone near you go bananas! Its no wonder Brides Magazine has advertised it.. Men go wild over this stuff.. I still dont know what it is, but every time I have this on.. watch out Lucy! The last time I was somewhere where ladies could be topless (not me though) was on a second honeymoon to the French Polynesians islands of, Bora Bora. There was always that amazing scent of vanilla and coconut in the air. Sarong perfume roll-on brings back those amazing memories. It reminded me of the evenings wed be sitting out on our over the water bungalow patio gazing at the most amazing sky. I could still smell this in my minds eye.. Shut your eyes.. Luscious crème de coconut and awesome floral notes. Yummy! It makes me want to dig my feet into the white sand in my mind! I have no doubt that this is their best seller. It rolls on without being too oily or sticky. I love Its adorable design, it also small enough to carry with you until you can make it back to your dream vacation place!

Desertdoll here with not a drugstore deal, but a definite steal!

I love a good DIY item. Dont get me wrong, I think Sephora is heaven and have no problem buying a mega million-dollar brand. But finding homemade soaps at a farmers market, prepared by the woman behind the table-love it! Theme Fragrance definitely plays up to my homespun side.

Hand poured original scents made by Elizabeth Morrison, a Rhode Island School of Design grad and self-proclaimed scenthound and photomaven. This woman knows her fragrance, not only what scents make woman (and men) swoon but also the power of being able to be transported or cheered instantly by the right scent. The names of her fragrances match the aromas perfectly. You can imagine a carefree day spend in a Bikini with the fruity and bright citrus notes. Or exactly what Lotus Lake looks like when you smell the tea and water flowers.

But I have to say I identified most with the fragrance she sent us, Sarong- a blend of luscious creme de coconut, white vanilla sand, and night blooming flowers. And if you dont see yourself on an island with a flower behind your ear, you need to have your nose checked! If you like tropical scents, you may have just met your favorite.

As if the fragrances themselves are not enough reason to buy, theres the price. These totally adorable and easily portable perfume roll-ons are under 10 bucks. You can get her whole line with prices like that and transport yourself to a different location almost every day of the week!

Theme Fragrances are available at boutiques all over New York but for those of us not in the big apple you can get them through etsy.com. And if youve never spent anytime on that site, and have a DIY affection like me, be prepared to be amazed. Art, beauty, accessories, clothing, paper goods-its thousands upon thousands of stores of handmade items by sisters doing it for themselves!

So Ladies, let us know if Sarong had you booking a flight to a tropical location
